People in old times used to say and follow that fruits and vegetables were good for a healthy body and research has once again proved that they actually are good and helpful in preventing a heart attack.

It has been stated by Oxford University researchers that there was a lower risk of dying from heart attack among people who ate eight and more portions of vegetables and fruits every day. The results were based on a study of more than 300,000 individuals.
Every day at least three servings of fruits and vegetables are consumed by an American on an average. It was seen that there were over 2600 deaths when for an average of 8.4 years, the study followed the patients and these deaths were among the 313,074 study participants due to heart disorders.
It was seen that people who ate three or less portions of fruits and vegetables everyday were 22 per cent more at risk of having a fatal heart attack as compared to those who had eight or more portions of fruits and vegetables each day.
There was a four per cent lower risk of dying from heart disease with every single portion of fruits and vegetables added to the diet on a daily basis.
