As part of the environmental and food security program of the city government, the Office of the City Veterinary and Agricultural Services (OCVAS) distributed 171 fruit-bearing trees each of the 81 rural barangays in this city.
The fruit-bearing trees that were turned-over to the barangay captains include suha, santol, chico, duhat, guyabano, rambutan, mangga, langka, calamansi and red lady variety of papaya. Aside from the fruit-bearing trees, interested individual may also request forest trees like mahogany and fire tree.
Barangay Captain Prudencio Cepillo, president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) thanked Mayor Vilma Dimacuha for the immediate response on the request of barangay captains for the fruit-bearing trees.
Meanwhile, Mayor Dimacuha urged barangay captains to plant more trees as it help in maintaining the environment and bear fruits for every family, adding that it will continue supporting projects for agriculture in the city.
